Cristo Rey De La Salle East Bay High School is proud to share that two outstanding members of our community were nominated — and selected as winners — for Golden Icons: Champions of Education & Excellence, presented by Salesforce. Krystal Alvarez, Social Studies Teacher and William Espinoza Client Relationship Manager. ( pictured below at the event)

Hosted by the Golden State Warriors and Generation Thrive at Chase Center, Golden Icons is a one-of-a-kind celebration honoring exceptional educators from across the Bay Area who inspire, innovate, and make a lasting impact both inside and outside the classroom.
This year, Cristo Rey De La Salle East Bay was honored to have two educators recognized among the region’s best.
Will, a Relationship Manager in our Corporate Work Study Program, was celebrated for the steady guidance and support he provides students as they navigate both school and the professional world. In his role, Will serves as a connector between students and supervisors at our corporate partner sites, helping students build confidence and thrive in often complex professional environments.
Known for his calm presence, consistency, and adaptability, Will is someone students can rely on as they balance rigorous academics, work responsibilities, family life, and the challenges of being teenagers. He creates safe spaces for students to ask questions, build skills, and grow in confidence while always advocating fiercely for their success.
Krystal was recognized as a rising and emerging educator who represents the future of education. She believes deeply in the potential of every student and intentionally designs learning experiences that prioritize student voice, engagement, self-reflection, and agency.
Her classroom is rooted in project-based learning, social justice, equity, and real-world service opportunities that encourage students to connect their education to a larger sense of purpose. Through culturally responsive and trauma-informed teaching practices, Krystal challenges students to see themselves, their communities, and their futures in new ways while holding them to high standards and expectations.
She is also known for leading with integrity, collaborating openly with colleagues, and helping to create an inclusive, student-centered school community.
To have two members of the Cristo Rey De La Salle East Bay community recognized in such a meaningful way is an incredible honor and a reflection of the dedication, compassion, and excellence our educators bring to students every day.
We are deeply grateful to the Golden State Warriors, Generation Thrive, and Salesforce for celebrating the educators who shape lives, open doors, and inspire the next generation.
Congratulations to Will and Krystal on this well-deserved recognition.
