Andrew is a life-long Bay Area native, having lived in almost every county in the Bay, and grew up with the Vietnamese-Lasallian community in San Jose. He attended Saint Mary’s College of California and graduated as class valedictorian with a Bachelors in Integral Liberal Arts in 2015. Following graduation, Andrew began his career as an educator and enrolled in the University of Notre Dame’s Alliance for Catholic Education (ACE) Teaching Fellowship program where he earned his Master of Education in 2017 while teaching English Language Arts in Santa Ana, CA. He returned to the Bay Area to work alongside students who aspired to be the first in their families to go to college as a Residential Faculty member at Eastside College Prep in East Palo Alto, CA. Andrew then returned to graduate school to deepen his understanding of the Catholic tradition by studying at the Dominican School of Philosophy and Theology and Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, CA graduating with a Masters in 2021. Andrew comes to Cristo Rey De La Salle as a person of faith who hopes to bring a renewed spirit of zeal and curiosity to young people in a way that makes relevant the history, philosophy, and theology of the Catholic tradition, the Good News and teachings of Jesus, and God’s promise to all people, especially the poor and oppressed. Outside of school, Andrew enjoys the outdoors, photography, and all Bay Area sports.
