It has been an historic 90 days since the grand opening of Cristo Rey De La Salle East Bay High School, St. Elizabeth Campus in August. We are filled with gratitude “for the grace God has given us to do this work.” It is our privilege to work with the young men and women we call our student associates and with our parents and families.
Cristo Rey De La Salle provides a rigorous and personalized college preparatory curriculum integrated with a corporate work study experience that prepares students of limited economic means to succeed in college and in life. With the support of our corporate partners and many of you, we strive to meet students where they are, and accompany them to the places they dream of going.
For us at Cristo Rey De La Salle, grace is the unchanging, constant kindness of God. For St. John Baptist de la Salle, patron saint of teachers and founder of the De La Salle Christian Brothers, we are “ministers of that grace” to our students and their families. There is mystery here. “I do not at all understand the mystery of Grace,” Anne Lamott says in Traveling Mercies, “only that it meets us where we are but does not leave us where it found us.” Each of us – not just our student associates – are transformed by the mystery of God’s grace in this work.
As we enter this season of gratitude and giving, we want to express our enormous gratitude to the growing community of individuals who have enabled this young educational mission to open so successfully.
We believe as well that there is grace in giving. And so we invite you to consider making a gift to support our current students and our future growth. No matter the size of the gift, you will empower our students to be men and women of faith, purpose and service.
