Nigel is passionate about teaching and passionate about serving low income youth. He holds a PhD in Nuclear Engineering from the University of California at Berkeley and has taught at all levels from public high schools to university classes. He was born in Karachi, Pakistan, grew up Catholic in a predominantly Muslim country, emigrated to the United States to go to high school in San Francisco and has stayed in the Bay Area ever since. He believes that everyone learns in different ways, everyone expresses their knowledge in different ways and that given the right environment everyone can “do math.” He believes that education equalizes the playing field and opens the doors of opportunity. He is excited about teaching in and being taught by the Lasallian community at Cristo Rey De La Salle East Bay High School.
