Mr. Jim Fisher who has a bachelor’s degree in Biochemistry from Northwestern University and a PhD in Molecular Biology from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. For almost 30 years, he worked at Applied Biosystems (now Thermo Fisher Scientific) in research and development, working on instrument systems for DNA analysis. He was part of the team that developed the first genome-scale sequencer, which was used to determine the sequence of the human genome in 2001. More recently he has worked on systems used for molecular diagnostics and DNA forensics. Mr. Fisher likes to cook (and to eat!). He is a singer (Bass!) in the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir. Most recently he served as the long term substitute for Biology and Chemistry at CRDLS.
