On Sunday, September 16th,  21 Dominican Sisters of Mission San Jose visited the Cristo Rey campus in Oakland for a private tour, blessing, and reception. The purpose of this day with the Dominican Sisters was to recognize their tireless support and commitment as the former St. Elizabeth High School evolved into the new Cristo Rey De La Salle East Bay High School St. Elizabeth Campus. Many of the Dominican Sisters who traveled from as far south as Fremont, were alumnae of St. Elizabeth High School or taught there at some point in their ministry. Thus, it was a very personal connection for many of the Sisters who toured the halls and classrooms of the newly opened school. Following the tour, the Sisters were taken to the campus chapel where there was a blessing led by Cristo Rey De La Salle’s Campus Ministry Director Sheila Garcia.

There were 3 student associates who attended the blessing ceremony: Rammces, Yamna, and Abigail. They were very fortunate to receive blessings of well wishes and support from many of the Sisters recognizing the rich history of St. Elizabeth while embracing the new beginning that they are embarking on as student associates of Cristo Rey De La Salle East Bay High School. After the blessing ceremony, the Sisters were lead to the second floor balcony for light refreshments and time for reflection on the great memories of the past along with high hopes for the future of Cristo Rey.
