Greetings! On behalf of the team at Cristo Rey De La Salle East Bay High School St. Elizabeth Campus, I want to welcome you to our inaugural E-Newsletter and our new website. Our founding team is working hard to build and provide a rigorous, personalized Lasallian Catholic education and an innovative Corporate Work Study Program based on the Cristo Rey Model. Thank you for welcoming us, and for your prayers, support and encouragement – we look forward to growing together with each of you.
We are off to a strong start in recruiting families of current 8th graders for our founding class of students. Since December, we have accepted 67 inspiring first year students from across Oakland and the East Bay. We are still accepting applications! Help us spread the word.
Additionally, to date 25 Bay Area businesses, nonprofits, governments and community organizations have agreed to join our Corporate Work Study Program. With this support, it’s possible for our students to contribute to the cost of their own high-quality education and to benefit from a meaningful work experience that creates the conditions for transformation into successful young adults of faith, purpose and service.
Finally, I am overjoyed to share that Cristo Rey De La Salle has been accepted into the Summit Learning program. This new teaching model empowers students to become agents of their own learning—setting goals, reflecting on their progress, and building habits and mindsets to help them succeed in college, career and life. Teachers focus on helping students build and demonstrate cognitive skills, and serve as mentors, coaches and advocates. We are honored to be the first Catholic high school in the country to implement the Summit Learning curriculum across our entire student body.
Please visit our newly launched website at http://www.cristoreydelasalle.org/ to learn more about our unique financial and educational model. And please consider making a donation to help us provide the education each of our students deserves.
